Inaugural Conference & Awards Event: Hoʻi i Ka Hale

Pouhana O Nā Wāhine’s 2024 Inaugural Hoʻi i Ka Hale Conference & Awards Event Recap

Returning back to our sources of ʻohana, strength, and of life.

A message from our Interim Executive Director, Dolly M.I. Tatofi, MSW, LCSW

Aloha mai kākou,

Aloha nō ia i ko kākou kaiāulu: Remember Our Beloved Community

Remembering who we are, our ʻohana, our kauhale and especially our beloved community is the kahea that was needed to both proclaim and reclaim that which is important in our lives: kākou. Without kākou our communities will not live nor thrive. Without kākou change cannot happen. Without kākou aloha will not be known nor will it be felt.

Through our beloved māhū, we were reminded of the importance of kulana and kuleana and came to understand how these elements serve a higher purpose for the sake of all.

Through our beloved mākua, we were shown and also experienced a shift in mana when it came to the sharing of traumatic experiences and was shown that by taking care of self as a way of life we can move through these barriers and continue to move each other forward.

Through our honorees, we were blessed with the gift of strength, honor, and respect for the unseen hana that happens on the daily and in lifetimes causing us to rise to a level of excellence while maintaining a grounding in aloha.

And through our beloved healers, we were guided to make better choices in a loving, nurturing, and safe space so that we could continue to kokua the needs of our people and each other.

The gratitude that we at Pouhana O Nā Wāhine have is as deep as the ocean and as expansive as the sky. There is no end. Your presence and participation at our Inaugural Hoʻi i Ka Hale event has helped to create a space of genuine connection, learning, and healing for our entire ʻohana. This is only the beginning of a larger blessed journey together and we are excited for the many opportunities ahead where we will continue to return to the roots of our homes, our ancestors, and our collective healing. We look forward to sharing more in the near future as we grow and strengthen this ʻohana that we have built together.

Mahalo nui for your trust, your commitment, and your mana. Together, we are building a foundation that will support our ʻohana for generations to come.

Me ke aloha nui,
Dolly M.I. Tatofi, MSW, LCSW
